Traditional Terracotta Mozzarella Serving Dish

The traditional terracotta mozzarella bowl with holes is a simple yet essential piece of Italian kitchenware, particularly in region of Calabria where fresh mozzarella and other soft cheeses are regularly made and served. Designed to hold fresh mozzarella or ricotta while allowing excess whey or liquid (known as liquido di governo) to drain off, preserving the cheese's texture and preventing sogginess. Can be placed in refrigerator to store leftovers.

This handmade Italian terracotta pottery is the finest in the world directly from the region of Calabria, Italy where the combination of the region’s clay and special firing process that takes 12 hrs (three times) creates a durability to last for generations. Once painted and sealed with food safe glaze it goes through another 2 cycles of the firing process.  Available in 4 different colors.
